Driving in Fog

This week we have seen some particularly difficult driving conditions and the fog has been especially disruptive, causing many accidents. If you do have to drive in these conditions here are some tips to help keep you safe.

Driving in Fog

  1. Clean your windsceeen clean and demystify constantly
  2. Clean your side mirrors
  3. Always use dipped headlights, avoid using headlights
  4. Only use your fog lights if visibility is less than 100meteres and remember to switch them off once the visibility has improved
  5. Ensure your windscreen washing fluid is topped up and do not use in freezing fog
  6. Drive at a consistently low speed until the fog has cleared completely as it often appears in drifts
  7. Take extra care to look for pedestrians especially in built up areas
  8. If you have to stop and park up make sure that you are visibile and use your hazard warning lights and headlights and if you have high vis clothes in your boot now is the time to wear them
