It was flat caps and tea cups at the ready when we held our annual Yorkshire Tea Party early in August. Huddersfield, Wakefield, Sheffield and Barnsley all took part in the charity fundraising day, baking a range of sweet and savoury treats for their customers. The variety and creativity of baking and quality of produce on offer was excellent: from Laura’s little gingerbread Arrow vans to Mark’s daughters’ stupendous fairy cakes and Andy’s eight year old son Thomas’s buns, it was a fantastic effort. Wakefield, yet again, put on the biggest spread and raised the most money, so they get the title of Master Bakers! Lisa Burr of Wakefield presented a cheque for £500 to Forget me Not Children’s Trust, Sheffield raised £40 for the Sheffield Childrens Hospital and Barnsley are going to keep the donations coming until their bucket is full! Well done to everyone who contributed in any way.
