As part of their 30 years in business celebrations Martin Dixon of Martin Dixon Ltd – a building services company based in Anlaby – and a number of his employees took part in a charity coast to coast bike ride from St Bees to Robin Hoods Bay (a distance of approx. 210 miles) over the weekend of 11/12 June.

Martin Dixon and his 15 strong team raised more than £14,000 for the two Hull charities by completing the gruelling 160-mile bike ride. As a result Dovehouse Hospice and Life for a Kid have been awarded £7,308 each.

The firm built a relationship with Dove House while installing solar panels. They also has a long-standing relationship with Life For A Kid, because Martin’s son Kirk, a former Hull FC player who is now working for the family business, is an official patron.

Mr Dixon said: “It was, without doubt, a difficult challenge for us, but the thought of being able to support both Dove House and Life for a Kid kept us going for the full 160 miles. I’d like to thank my team here for agreeing to the challenge and, of course, completing it, but mostly to all the people who put their hands in their pockets to raise such a tremendous amount.”

Both charities were overwhelmed by the final amount and were full of praise for the Martin Dixon team. We were delighted to support the team by providing them with their transportation. Well done to everyone involved.
