Testing Your Eyes Can Save Your Life

Many Company’s regularly check the eyesight of their drivers through digital retinal screening. This simple test is an important element in preventative care and allows the optometrist to detect and monitor health conditions, including diabetes, heart conditions, cancers of the eye, brain tumours, high cholesterol, detached retina, hypertension (high blood pressure), and glaucoma.
Specsavers Corporate Eyecare announced that in 2015 at least 50 of the company drivers they tested were diagnosed with serious health issues following routine retinal screenings. These people were then able to receive the appropriate treatment and avoid acute illness.
Even if you don’t feel that you have an issue with your eyes, or you don’t drive for a living, just getting them regularly tested could save your life by detecting potential life threatening illnesses and enabling you to seek treatment. So book yourself in and get checked on a regular basis and you may just save your own life.
